The Conference Room Post Covid-19
As we get back into our offices, we recognize that many of our closed off office conference rooms don’t lend themselves to easy distancing. Here are some solutions for creating the conference room post Covid-19:
Change Your Current Conference Room into Office Hoteling.
While your current office space will not be able to accommodate a large group with distancing in mind, it is valuable office space! Take advantage of this by creating several hoteling spaces for employees thereby freeing up open office area for other purposes.
Open Things Up!
While cubicles in some form may see a resurgence because of COVID-19, designers are opting to open up closed spaces removing one wall in conference rooms to help increase airflow. “These spaces are known as “officles” because they are a cross between an office and a cubicle. Because these newly renovated spaces only have three walls, air can flow freely throughout the space and potentially prevent germs from gathering in one location.” US Chamber “How to Prepare Offices for Reopening”
Install Plexiglass Barriers.
“Many businesses, such as restaurants, gas stations and grocery stores, have already installed temporary plexiglass shields and barriers to stunt the spread of the coronavirus. These same barriers can be used in an office environment in areas with high foot traffic and in-person interactions.” US Chamber. Plexiglass shields can be placed in conference rooms, on desks, to define workspaces and to the tops of shorter cubicle walls to keep the open office space feel.
Create Open Conference Spaces.
One way to utilize your space more Covid-19 responsively, is to create window front open office meeting spaces. Similar to the concept of the “Officles”, corner and/or window front conference spaces promote airflow and can allow employees to social distance far more readily. One great example of a space ready for this is within the Prestige Offices. This open, window side space allows for ideal air-flow through the space while distancing can happen with ease.
