Heading Back to the Office?…Rethinking the Work Environment.
As we all look forward to hitting the play button on our lives beyond the front door, we can start to plan our next best steps. The office will be a welcome sight for most of us; back to a more regular schedules, familiar faces, and a real focus on what we do professionally. As a result, there are a number of things which we will need to approach in a fresh way and with that, an office rethink is in order. We’ve all heard the 6 feet apart and hand washing guidelines but just how does this translate to the office space. When you consider all of the interaction and space proximities we are used to, it can be a bit overwhelming to contemplate everything that is involved in that evolution. It will take some time and a bit of experimentation to find the right and productive formula.
Here are a number of overarching factors to consider when you devise a plan that works for your organization:
SOCIAL DISTANCING IN THE OFFICE IN:
- Hallways,
- Corridors,
- Points-of-Entry,
- Personal Workspace,
- Breakrooms,
- Restrooms, and
- Conference Rooms
FOCUS ON AIR QUALITY:
- Increased focus on Air Filtration/Sterilization (UV-C Integration).
- Upgrading Fresh Air Circulation with HVAC and Open Air methodologies.
MATERIALS AND SURFACE SELECTIONS, AND MAINTENANCE:
- Consider Resurfacing High-Touch Surfaces to Antimicrobial and Antiviral Materials.
- Upgrading to No-Touch Doors or Foot-Handle Installation.
- Improved and More Frequent Cleaning Regimen.
