Space Type
Financial services headquarters — residential building converted to commercial office
Scope
Full conversion of a lodge-style residential building into a sophisticated financial headquarters — seven offices, conference room, reception, coffee bar, and a lower-level client event and fitness space, all on a remarkably conservative furnishing budget.
THE SPACE BEFORE
The founder didn’t want a typical commercial office suite — and found a building to match. It was a residential, lodge-like structure with real character but zero commercial function. Dated finishes, limited open areas, oddly configured rooms, and a lower level with a tight footprint and utilities in all the wrong places. The building had personality. It just didn’t have a plan.
THE DESIGN DIRECTION
ProsperWell’s clients come in to talk about personal financial priorities — conversations that require trust, comfort, and a sense of ease. The space needed to feel sophisticated enough to reflect the founder’s success and the caliber of the firm, while staying warm and approachable enough for those conversations to happen naturally. It also had to accommodate future growth, with a lower level that could host casual client events and double as a fitness space. And the budget for furnishing the entire building was a fraction of what most firms would expect.
WHAT WE WORKED WITH (AND AROUND)
Making a residential building feel like a headquarters.
The structure was built in a residential style, which meant limited open areas for receiving clients. We used space-broadening techniques throughout — reflective tile accent panels on reception walls to visually expand the room, and interior windows added across the building to pull daylight deeper into every corridor and office. A coffee bar was carved out by borrowing space from the adjacent conference room. Storage was tucked into small, unusual niches that would’ve gone unused.
A reception that delivers the “wow” in a small footprint.
The founder wanted a grand arrival experience. The space didn’t cooperate on square footage, so the design had to create impact through intention instead. A custom statement reception desk anchors the welcome area — a single piece that sets the tone for the entire building before visitors take another step.
Converting the founder’s office from dated residential to modern executive.
The office had a unique configuration and an overly residential character that didn’t match the person working in it. A fresh color palette and warmly professional furnishings struck the right balance — relaxed enough to reflect the founder’s personality, polished enough to reflect the business.
A lower level that punches above its weight.
Small footprint, awkwardly placed utilities, and a request for both a client event space and a fitness area. We spent significant time on space planning to make both functions work without the room feeling carved up. The result is a lower level that reads as open and intentional, not compromised.
An ambitious scope on a disciplined budget.
Seven offices, a conference room, reception, and the lower-level spaces — all furnished on a budget that would surprise most people in the industry. Solid surfaces were selected for low maintenance and longevity. Commercial-grade LVT flooring brought durable warmth. Every dollar was placed where it would last and where clients would feel it most.
THE OUTCOME
The building that was once a residential oddity now functions as a headquarters that feels exactly like the person who runs it — confident, warm, and deliberately unconventional. Clients walk into a space designed around the conversations that happen here: personal, trusting, and forward-looking.
What this project proves is that a non-traditional building isn’t a limitation — it’s an advantage when the design matches the vision. The lodge-like character that made this building unusual is exactly what makes ProsperWell’s headquarters memorable. And it was all done at a budget that positioned the investment for the long term, not just the opening day.
