PUNCTUATED PALETTE: A BRANDED SPACE
CHAPTER 1. HOW IT BEGAN
PUREALCHEMY DESIGN was initially called in to do a simple consult for carpet, bathroom and wall covering selections for a company’s reinvention.
CONCLUSIONS FROM DISCOVERY MEETING: Initially only seeking an update for the 1980’s office building it became clear during our discussion that there was a desire (otherwise kind of sounds like potential to sell them more) for so much more. When asked about brand colors the new owners shared their initial mock-ups of the new logo they were currently crafting. They were distancing themselves from what the company once had been and wanted to make a fresh, bold and modern statement.
CHALLENGES: The challenge and opportunity here was to allow the space to bring the character of the new entity to life. Doing the project justice would allow employees and clients alike to intuitively understand that the space was now the home to a modern and forward-thinking company.
CHAPTER 2. THE PUREALCHEMY DESIGN FORMULA
OBJECTIVE: SeaChange was a brand new entity embarking on a promising and bright future. In order to portray the new enterprise with its energy, optimism and forward thinking, SeaChange introduced a vibrant and energetic brand and logo to represent their statement of personality in the field. Carrying that message forward and weaving it into the company’s space will serve to inspire all that enter to “feel” the essence of that brand visually. THIS is what clients remember when they leave and the experience will remain in the forefront of their minds as they find new projects that require the services and experience that is uniquely SeaChange.
LAYOUT: The space itself embodies a contemporary and chic vibe with an abstract reference to the world of marketing and print. Throughout the space you will encounter vibrantly hued color stories which punctuate the modern neutral canvas of clean white and platinum grey. Psychologically this will let their clients know that SeaChange is a versatile creative canvas that is skilled at making lively yet refined moves.
ATMOSPHERE: The reception area is an elegantly modern space with white tile floor and a clean lined reception desk crowned with a raised brushed metallic logo mounted to the grey wall behind it. As you move further you see the back wall is finished in the same white tile but now accented with “digital” glass lines running between them; a visual reference to your digital prowess. As you turn the corner the visual complexity increases as you engage with the modern clean-lined reception lounge space of SeaChange. The backdrop is a striking wall sized mural of richly colored ink floating in a sea of white. This is the beginning of bringing their clients into the process and magic of print.
CHAPTER 3. A PUNCTUATED PALETTE REINVENT
Energy and color punctuate the spirit of metamorphosis at this new printing company, which was created when the owners closed the existing business and formed a new entity. Only an energetic brand could do their vibrant new personality justice and a space reflecting that energy could bring the idea to life. What began as an original 1980's office building was soon transformed, weaving the message of energy and innovation throughout the space, inspiring all who enter to “feel” the essence of the brand visually.
FEATURED REUSE AND REINVENTED ELEMENTS:
- Metal frames from the former entry were re-purposed into the dynamic photo-gallery hallways.
- The aged doors and trim were kept and enameled to infuse a completely modern vibe throughout the entire space. Markings and imperfections became character and massive disposal and new purchases were avoided.
- Restroom dividers too were repainted and reinstalled.
- Existing carpet was kept in the main conference room and creative layout solutions allowed for that more character once again.
- Semi-dated ceiling tile was printed on to add a unique and branded character versus replacement in the open office space, instantly adding a modern and fresh take.
- Existing cubicles and partitions were reconfigured to allow for a far better flow. A collaborative and open feeling is the result.
- Minor changes to the walls opened things up for air and light to change the sense of the space.
